Terms & Conditions
-
Language First Ireland provides live online French language courses for secondary school students and adults in Ireland, with a particular focus on Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate preparation.
Courses are delivered live via Zoom by a qualified French teacher, in small groups designed to encourage active participation and regular speaking practice.
Courses may be offered to students individually or in small groups, depending on the course and timetable.
These Terms & Conditions apply to all course registrations and purchases made through the Language First Ireland website.
By registering for a course and completing payment, the customer confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
For students under the age of 18, registration and acceptance of these Terms & Conditions must be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
-
Registration is completed online through the Language First Ireland website.
A registration is considered confirmed only when:
the registration process has been completed;
payment has been received; and
the student has been allocated to a suitable course or group.
Submitting a registration form does not, by itself, guarantee a place.
Students are allocated to groups according to relevant criteria, which may include:
school year;
level of French;
course requirements;
availability; and
preferred timetable, where possible.
Language First Ireland will make every reasonable effort to place students in a suitable group and, where possible, to accommodate their preferred timetable.
Group allocation cannot be guaranteed until registration and payment have been completed.
If a suitable group cannot be formed, Language First Ireland may offer an alternative group, timetable or course. If no suitable alternative is available, the customer will be entitled to a full refund of the amount paid for the affected course.
-
All course fees are displayed in euros (€) on the Language First Ireland website.
The applicable price is the price displayed at the time of purchase, unless an obvious pricing error has occurred.
Payment must be completed through the payment methods available on the website and, unless otherwise agreed in writing, must be received before the course begins.
A place on a course is not considered confirmed until the required payment has been received.
Language First Ireland reserves the right to update course prices for future registrations. Any price change will not affect a course that has already been purchased and paid for.
-
Courses are delivered live online via Zoom.
Students are responsible for ensuring that they have:
a reliable internet connection;
a suitable computer or tablet;
a working microphone; and
a webcam.
Students are expected to join lessons on time and to participate actively.
Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that younger students have the necessary equipment and a suitable environment for attending online lessons.
Language First Ireland cannot be held responsible for technical problems originating from the student's equipment, internet connection or home environment.
If a student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, the lesson will normally not be rescheduled or refunded.
Missed lessons due to the student's absence do not normally entitle the student or parent to a refund or replacement lesson.
Lesson recordings are not routinely provided.
Language First Ireland may, at its discretion, provide additional materials or guidance following an absence, but this is not guaranteed.
-
Cancellation by the customer

These statutory rights apply in addition to any cancellation or refund rights offered by Language First Ireland under its own Cancellation & Refund Policy.

Where Language First Ireland cancels a course and no suitable alternative is accepted or available, a full refund will be provided for the affected course.

Where a significant change materially affects the course purchased, Language First Ireland will communicate the change to the customer and, where appropriate, offer a suitable alternative or refund.
